A couple friends of mine are always after me to go to McClelland Park on Tuesdays for league night. Tonight I gave up and said wtf, why not? It was actually a lot of fun. Fourteen people showed up, the top three spots got paid, and it only cost me five bucks. That’s my way of saying that I didn’t finish in the top three.
I like disc golf, but what really made league night so much fun was the people. When I think “disc golf enthusiast group,” I don’t always picture the most socially adept crowd. Happily, everyone defied my expectations. No one made fun of me, and my partner (league nights are doubles play) was not visibly upset about being paired with a novice.
All this madness is hosted by the Joplin Disc Golf Club. And I need to work on my segue-into-pictures skills.

Technically, the drive over the trees on hole 20 is called a tomahawk. And I think Andrew’s tomahawk was closer to the basket than his partner’s drive. Yup, he was like 12′ away from the basket.
